After 14 years of knitting, crocheting, designing, blocking, undoing and re-doing… we’ve learned something simple:
The right tools don’t just make projects easier.
They make them better.
You might notice that some products in our shop carry a small pink label marked Studio Preferred.
That label isn’t decorative.
It means one thing:
We use this. In our studio. Regularly.
Not everything earns it. But when it does, it’s because it has proven itself in real projects — not just on a product sheet.
For now, these are four of our absolute studio essentials.
The sanity-savers.
If you’ve ever restarted counting for the fourth time because someone asked you a question mid-row… you already know why these matter.
These locking stitch markers are:
Perfect for precision projects
Essential for lace, shaping, increases and pattern repeats
Ideal when pausing a project mid-row
Easy to remove without stretching stitches
Because they lock, they’re also brilliant for crochet, marking rows, increases, or temporary holds.
They are small. They are simple.
And they quietly prevent a lot of frustration.
Studio truth: we use these constantly.
The Porsche of crochet hooks.
Yes, they’re pink.
Yes, they’re beautiful.
And this isn’t about aesthetics alone.
Tulip Rose hooks are high-end for a reason:
Smooth glide through yarn
Perfectly shaped hook head
Balanced weight
Ergonomic comfort for long sessions
The difference is subtle until you try them.
And then you feel it immediately.
Stitches become more even.
Hands get less tired.
Projects simply look better.
They’re not just crochet hooks.
They’re an experience.
The transformation tool.
Blocking is where a project becomes what it was meant to be.
From delicate lace shawls
To structured granny squares
To Tunisian crochet panels
To full blankets, garments... anything
Blocking combs allow you to:
Secure multiple points evenly
Maintain tension without distortion
Avoid fibre damage
Block larger sections efficiently
They provide a gentle but firm hold — especially important for wool and natural fibres.
Studio rule: if it’s handmade, it gets blocked properly, especially if it curls.
The final restorative touch.
We don’t just wash finished pieces.
We care for them.
Eucalan is:
No-rinse
Fibre-loving
Perfect for wet blocking
Gently conditioning for wool garments
It smells incredible (if you choose scented), and it helps preserve the natural properties of wool so garments remain durable and soft.
It’s the difference between “clean” and “cared for.”
And yes, it lives in our studio and laundry permanently.
The Studio Preferred label means:
✔ We use it ourselves
✔ It improves our workflow
✔ It protects fibres
✔ It elevates the finished result
Fluffmade has grown over 14 years.
So has our standard.
We don’t just love beautiful yarn.
We believe the tools deserve to match.
Because loving your craft isn’t seasonal.
It’s built into every stitch.
